TAWANG, Mar 17: The first post-PR-election Zilla Parishad meeting of Tawang district was held today here at the Conference Hall of DC’s office.
ZPC Leki Gombu chaired the meeting which was attended by all the ZPMs of the district, DC Sang Phuntsok, member secretaries of GPDP, administrative officers and HoDs. The ZPMs of Kyidphel and Mogto raised queries regarding the current status of government schools, agri-horti schemes and sincerity of officials working at village level. The concerned HODs briefed about the staff strength and the problems faced by the departments. The DDSE highlighted the initiative taken by the government to merge the schools that are currently non-functional and having low enrolment for better management and improving the quality of education. Medical Superintendent, KDS District Hospital raised the need for appointing General Duty Medical officers. Issues such as shortage of manpower faced by the Electrical department and steps necessary for ensuring continuous power supply in the district were also discussed at length. DC Tawang requested the PRI members to be the custodians of government assets which are left unused in villages. ZPC Tawang asserted that Education will be his priority.
