ITANAGAR, Jan 25: State’s first ever innovation festival being organized by Arunachal Pradesh State Science and Technology Council (APSCS & T) in association with National Innovation Foundation, India, got underway on a colourful note here today at Science Center IG Park.
The event was inaugurated by Secretary of Science and Technology Amey Abhyankar and saw participation of more than 50 innovations consisting grassroots Innovators, Entrepreneurs etc from various states to celebrate the gift of knowledge and discovery.
Innovative creations and progressive designs developed by students from NERIST, NIT, Yupia, and schools were put on display for public view at the venue.
An Inspire Awards – “Manak”, a state level event was also organized today as part of the event wherein students from Changlang, Lohit, Lower Subansiri and Papum Pare showcased their creative projects. In his address, Secretary, APSCS & IT, A Abhyankar said that the event aims to celebrate the creativity in people by providing a common platform in addition to creating scientific temper among students and creative innovators.
He also emphasized the use and need for more contribution towards developing new emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning etc.
Assuring support to the innovators in showcasing their artefact and models at a higher platform, he announced a proposal to create a State Innovation Fund to support innovative ideas, so that a systematic innovation support system can be build up for creative innovators.
Director cum Member Secretary, AP State Council for Science and Technology, CD Mungayak highlighted the basic purpose of this festival, which is to provide a common platform for the state's innovators, students and entrepreneurs to exchange their innovative ideas and share their experience in developing new innovations.
A representative of National Innovation Foundation India (NIF), Dr Nitin Maurya in his address appreciated the participation of innovators from all walks of life at the festival. He said that in coming years, he expects more innovators to come forward to showcase their creativity and innovations in such events.
The two day programme includes interaction session, technical session and discussion among the innovators and motivation session for students by several eminent personalities.
