\ITANAGAR, Feb 2: The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) has lodged an FIR against the Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resources and Development Agency (APBRDA) for intimidating its MLA candidate not to file nomination for the ensuing bye-election to the Lumla Assembly Constituency.
Speaking to the media, President PPA,  Kahfa Bengia said that, Chairman APBRDA Tungri  Effa  called the party's candidate Leki Norbu and intimidated him to refrain from filing his nomination for the ensuing bypoll.
"Such intimidation is against democracy, and we appeal to the investigation agency to expose who is behind such a criminal act. Even the ruling BJP government is answerable for such act by the person who is holding the post of chairman in the government," Bengia said.
The PPA further said that their candidate will not withdraw his nomination. "We have sympathy for the family members of late Jambay Tashi but let democracy prevail; votes will decide at the end what the public wants for the constituency," added President PPA Kahfa Bengia. We have also forwarded the copy of the FIR to the Election Commission on the issue, he added.
Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resources and Development Agency (APBRDA)  Tungri Effa could not be contacted despite repeated calls for his comments on the allegation levelled by the PPA.
