ZIRO, May 11: Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang has warned the shopkeepers in Ziro-Hapoli township to refrain from hoarding of essential commodities and intentionally hiking prices, taking undue advantage of the pandemic situation in an order issued on Monday last.
“Creating an artificial shortage of commodities leading to unnecessary hikes in price is uncalled for and depriving the poor of the basic essential commodities,” she stated.
Also taking note of few shopkeepers selling commodities above the MRP, she has warned of prosecution under appropriate section of Consumer Rights Act.
The Trade Development Officer and the Police have been directed to implement the order and monitor at the ground level.
