Ziro,Apr 16: The Extended Mission Parivar Vikas (MPV) –A Family Planning Scheme, for substantially increasing access to contraceptives and family planning services was launched by Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri, Somcha Lowang, in presence of DMO Dr. Tage Kanno, and members of District Planning Implementation Committee (DPIC) on April 11 last.
In the meeting, five pronged strategies of extended MPV scheme was discussed in detail.
The DC suggested for intensifying mass awareness activities on various contraceptive methods and HFD scheme which should include short video talk in local dialect through local cable network and using social media to disseminate information.
The Committee after discussion decided to conduct block level meeting with the stake holders viz the PRI members, MOs and Nurses as per guidelines.
Under the Extended Mission Parivar Vikas scheme, besides the existing family planning services, various contraceptive methods for spacing including Injectable contraceptive will be made available till the subcenter level and Post Partum IUCD (PPIUCD) in all delivery points. The promotional Schemes like Nayi Pahel-Family Planning kits for newlyweds will be made available with ASHAs shortly and Saas Bahu Sammelan to encourage young married women and their mothers-in-law to freely discuss matters related to family planning & reproductive health and SAARTHI-mobile van for awareness is to be initiated during the campaign.
