Roing, Aug 8: People of Lower Dibang Valley pledged to make every village in the district a ‘Drugs Free Village’ with the successful conduct of special gram sabhas in all the village Gram Panchayats from August 6-8 next. 
The main highlight of the gram sabhas was to discourage cultivation of poppy and marijuana and to help the district administration in combating drug menace by forming village level anti narcotics committees, monitoring drugs usage and supply within the village jurisdiction. 
The response from the villagers has been overwhelming and the work put in by the appointed Nodal officers in making the Gram Sabhas a success has been tremendous, the DA said in a statement.
