LONGO, Feb 2: Minister, PHE&WS, DoTCL etc. Wangki Lowang today inaugurated a mega water treatment plant here in the Longo Circle headquarters in Tirap district in presence of 57-Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong, officials, PRI representatives and locals.
Addressing the gathering Lowang urged the people of Longo and adjoining villages to take care of the newly inaugurated project and avoid deforestation near water sources. While urging the inhabitants of Longo Circle in particular and Tirap as whole to replace the traditional method of shifting cultivation with farming of cash crops through scientific methods, he also appealed them to make judicious use of water. PHE&WS Department will facilitate drinking water in every household under Jal Jeevan Mission, the Minister assured. Responding to a memorandum, Lowang assured replacement of 65 mm old pipelines very soon. Regarding construction of the new Government Primary School building and widening of the village link road he said the matter will be informed to the Chief Minister in due course. The MLA while appreciating the PHE&WS department for timely completion of the project also informed that construction of NH-315A from Hukanjuri to Khonsa is being carried out in full swing and with the commencement of construction of the Khonsa-Longding TAH stretch from Tissa point, people of Tirap will experience good roads very soon. EE (PHE&WS), Khonsa Er. Bamang Tasung informed the project was sanctioned in 2018 and has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 450 lakhs.
