NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Minister for Public Health Engineering & Water Supply and DoTCL, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Wangki Lowang today attended the State Ministers’ Conference on Jal Jeevan Mission here at Ashok Hotel.
The conference was chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and attended by PHE ministers of all states. Addressing the gathering, Union Minister reminded the August 15 announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he declared the ambitious plan of providing potable water to every rural household by 2024 and a Rs 3.5 lakh crore allotment in this regard. Discussing the modalities of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, Shekhawat remarked that the target is achievable if the Centre and States join hands with focus on community-centric people’s participation.
As per Ministry for Public Health Engineering & Water Supply, GoAP figures, total number of rural households in Arunachal Pradesh is 2,13,104, of which the number of rural households connected with piped water supply system at present is 27,465 and the remaining number of households to be connected is 1,85,639. The action plan to cover this balance households with piped water supply system by 2024 has been submitted by the State to the Central Ministry.
