KANUBARI, Aug 3: As part of routine efforts of KVK Longding in hand-holding the farmers of the district to adopt the correct farming techniques, In-Charge, Head, KVK Longding A. Kirankumar Singh today monitored a Dragon Fruit farmer’s plantation site in Niaunu village.
Observing the slow growth pattern of plants, the KVK Head advised the farmer to adopt proper manuring and weeding methods to control nutritional deficiency. The dragon fruit saplings were given under NEC Project by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, A. P. Centre, Basar in collaboration with the KVK Longding in 2018. Plantation of Dragon Fruit in Longding district promises to be a boon for the farmers as it is more remunerative compared to other fruit crops.
However, there is a need to spread more awareness among farmers in other parts of the district regarding the fruit’s commercial prospects.
