ITANAGAR, Apr 9: Chairperson, Lokayukta, Arunachal Pradesh Justice (Retd.) P.K. Saikia today called on Governor (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) at the Raj Bhavan and discussed issues pertaining to eradication of corruption during delivery of governance and in official procedures.
While emphasising that every public servant must deliver their assigned responsibilities in an absolutely transparent manner, the Governor said as an open and independent public office with far-reaching powers of investigation, Lokayukta must exercise its authority to ensure a corruption-free governance in the state. Lokayukta can immensely contribute to the developmental process of Arunachal Pradesh by probing and checking lackadaisical administrative approach, red-tapism and immoral professional practices, he opined. The Governor also discussed issues concerning protection of whistleblowers, auditing in every sector and expediting of investigations. Lokpal and Lokayukta are the two very important institutions in the country and their efficiencies must become visible through effective implementation of the mandated Charter of Duties, he added. 
Justice (Retd.) Saikia shared his views on state Lokayukta’s future course of action. Member, Lokayukta, Arunachal Pradesh Yeshi Tsering, IAS (Retd.) also participated in the meeting. PRO Raj Bhavan
