TEZU, Apr 8: Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, Danish Ashraf today complimented the Lohit Youth Libraries for greatly contributing in building self-confidence among reader-activists. He was addressing a jam-packed audience on the occasion of annual library awards organised here at the Bamboosa Library premises in Tezu on Friday.

  Pointing out that reading materials like comic books contribute a lot to the fun of reading as well as all around awareness and knowledge even in science subjects, DC advised the library in-charges to launch a campaign to reach out to all schools in the neighbourhood, and assured all support for the same. 

Inspecting the library to oversee the condition of infrastructure and materials, Ashraf also congratulated the Bamboosa Library for adopting LED lamps. The District Administration is launching an eco-friendly practice “Ujwala” this month at Tezu. 

He also announced that the network plans to start decennial celebrations from November next to mark 10 years of the youth library movement and appealed all to join hands. 

Sharing their experiences of active association with the Libraries, ace library activist, Keshilu Tayang, along with few others credited the success of the movement to the tremendous trust reposed in the readers and volunteers, and the libraries functioning as centres of interaction. 

Few resource persons from ASSET also highlighted how enlightened administrators and socially conscious citizens have helped in the growth of the people’s library movement in Lohit and thanked all patrons for contributing to a Reading Arunachal. 

Later, in a separate function, Dr Rajendra Babu, library patron and HoD Commerce in IGG College, Tezu, handed over a book gift of over 120 books from Scholastic India to Bamboosa Library.
