PASIGHAT, Jan 27: A ‘Local Food Contest’ was successfully conducted at the scenic Migung Resort, Bodak, to mark the observance of the National Tourism Day 2026. Despite short notice, the young boys and girls of the district participated enthusiastically. Such initiatives play a vital role in reconnecting youth with their cultural heritage and traditional roots.
The contest featured a variety of authentic Adi tribal dishes, prepared by the young participants. On the occasion, esteemed local food aficionados with expertise in tribal cuisine judged the contest.
Prior to the competition, the District Tourism Officer (DTO), Leena Perme, delivered an awareness talk on sustainable tourism. She emphasized the importance of sustainability and inclusive growth for the district's tourism sector, noting that endeavors like this contest help boost local tourism stakeholders and promote holistic development.
To encourage and appreciate all participants, consolation prizes were awarded to two contestants.
