Aalo, Aug 19: Lika Ori from Yigi Kaum village in West Siang has bagged the prestigious State Award for Best Artisan 2019-20 in the Handicraft sector category which carries a cash award of Rs. 75,000 and a certificate.
An expert in making traditional handicrafts like Bolup (Hat), Egin, Opo, Osi, Hobuk bow and arrow bags, Ori completed Cane and Bamboo Training under the Department of Textile and Handicraft in 1987-88 and till now has taken part in various Skill Development Training programmes at Itanagar and Guwahati.
He also won many prizes in exhibitions conducted in the district from time to time. The certificate was handed over to him by Aalo East MLA Kento Jini on the Independence Day here at the district headquarters. DIPRO
