He was accompanied by Subedar MV Edward from the Maratha Regiment and Subedar Pawan Kumar from the JAT Regiment of the Indian Army. Paying tribute to the late soldier, Libang appreciated the Indian Army for keeping alive the courage, discipline and dedication shown by Late Singh and lauded the jawans for assisting the tourists who visit Arunachal and the War Memorial. “ The youths of today can learn many things from this memorial that shows us how to overcome all hurdles with courage, dedication and discipline,” the Minister said.
Subedars Edward and Kumar informed the minister that they have redecorated and added new features to the memorial as and when required for beautification. Recently, a digital visitors' book has been installed to facilitate the visitors to make a record of entry and have a glimpse of the saga of guts and glory of the Garhwali soldiers who showed exemplary courage and sacrifice during the 1962 Indo-China war.
The Jaswant Garh War Memorial was constructed to commemorate the battle of Nuranang fought on November 17, 1962 and pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice made by Rifleman Jaswant Singh.
