PASIGHAT, Oct 3: Health Minister Alo Libang today launched Special Routine Immunization Catchup Campaign for pregnant women and newborn to 2 years at the Sille PHC in presence of the Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering and health officials.
While launching the campaign, the minister administered oral polio vaccine drop to a beneficiary child on the occasion.
As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Libang also launched Augmentation & saturation of 2nd Dose COVID Vaccination and Special RI Campaign and 90% FI coverage by August 2022.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the largest COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country was launched on 16th January earlier this year. Since launch, various categories were included in order to scale up the coverage. Many strategies have been adopted in order to attain the maximum vaccination coverage. He informed that as on September 29, the vaccination coverage of 1st Dose and 2nd Dose were 759125 (75%) and 413373 (41%) respectively. In order to attain optimum immunity against COVID-19, a complete two doses were essential and the beneficiaries yet to be vaccinated with first dose and those who were due for the 2nd dose must be tracked on priority and mobilized to CVC.
The main objective under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav- Special RI Campaign was to reach the unreached population with all the available vaccines under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) and thereby accelerate the full immunization and complete immunization coverage of children and pregnant women in the state.
Reach all children up to 2 years of age and pregnant women with vaccines under UIP, due for the age as per the national immunization schedule, he said adding that special focus would be on the population who have missed their vaccine doses due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In order to achieve 90% FI by August 2022 and all village/wards/hamlets of the state would be included. The health minister sought whole hearted support from all levels of health workers, PRI leaders, GBs and all the citizens to make the mission effective and successful.
Local MLA Ninong Ering expressing his gratitude to the PM Narendra Modi and the state’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu for linking such special campaigns under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and appealed the people to cooperate in the mission for 100 per cent vaccination.
