Naharlagun, Oct 15: Health Minister Alo Libang inaugurated the Apheresis machine, a vital device for conducting plasma therapy on Covid patients here at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) today in presence of the institute’s Director Dr Moji Jini, Director-DHS Dr M Lego and other officials.
“Today we have successfully installed the Apheresis machine at the TRIHMS that will help in conducting plasma therapy for Covid-19 patients which we have been planning for the last many months,” the Health Minister said while appreciating the officials.
Elaborating on the technicalities of the device, he informed that it separates blood received from the donor Covid-cured patient’s body and segregates it into various components such as plasma, platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells.
“The machine will be used to extract plasma to treat severe Covid cases,” Libang informed.
