Plans on to upgrade BPGH to a Super Specialty Hospital

PASIGHAT, Jun 26: Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang reviewed the Covid-19 preparedness of East Siang district and assessed the related manpower and health infrastructural needs in a meeting here on Thursday evening attended by the District Administration including the health authorities.
Taking note of the requirements put forward by the health authorities, Libang said that the manpower issue i.e. shortage of nurses, MTS and sanitary workers is being prioritised by the state government and necessary support will be provided so that the dedicated Covid Hospital, BPGH and Covid Care Centres are equipped with life-saving devices and other infrastructural necessities to cope up with any Covid-related emergency situation. He further reiterated that the state government has decided to focus on strengthening the health infrastructure with procurement of medical equipment and creation of new posts over the two fiscal years.
Attending the meeting, Lok Sabha MP Arunachal East Tapir Gao underscored the need to exert continuous vigil and stay prepared to face the Covid-19 challenges. Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, GoAP  P. Parthiban informed that an adequate fund has been allotted for strengthening the district’s health infrastructure and creation of posts for recruiting Staff Nurses, Lab Technicians and other required manpower. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh apprised the Minister regarding the logistic and manpower requirements in Covid management in the district and acknowledged the efforts made by the DA, Health Department, police, NGOs, CBOs and other stakeholders.
JDHS (T& R)-BPGH & TC, Dr D. JDHS highlighted the timeline of activities in management of the dedicated Covid-19 hospital and creation of infrastructure, conduct of training and propagation of Covid awareness etc. 
The Health Minister lauded the dedication and tireless efforts of the district’s frontline fighters.
As a part of his tour to East Siang district to assess the ground-level Covid situation, Libang on Friday also conducted a consultative meeting here with the district’s NGOs, CBOs and Covid-19 warriors.
Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, MLAs Lombo Tayeng, Ninong Ering and Kaling Moyong, DC Dr Singh, SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, DMO Dr Kaling Dai spoke on the occasion. Secretary, Health & Family Welfare P. Parthiban was also present.
Responding to the issues raised in the memorandums submitted by the district’s NGOs, the Minister said that the state government has decided to upgrade and strengthen 18 Districts Hospitals over next two years and the allotted fund in this regard will be utilized only for upgradation of health facilities, increase of manpower etc. While informing that medical waste management facilities will be upgraded, Libang also divulged that for Covid testing, True NAT and RT-PCR machines and Bio-safety cabinets have been procured which will ensure carrying out of all Covid tests in the state itself. Acknowledging the need to prioritise the healthcare facilities and manpower requirements in BPGH and Covid Hospital, he said that BPGH is being considered to be upgraded to a Super Specialty Hospital which will benefit patients from the Eastern Sector as well as other parts of the state. Earlier, memorandums were submitted by ABK, District Unit, ABK Youth Wing Task Force Covid-19, All East Siang District Students’ Union (AESDSU) which carried the appeal to address the district’s healthcare and manpower needs. The NGO members assured full support to the DA in furthering the collective fight against the pandemic.

Task Force Covid-19, ABK Youth Wing, AAPSU, ESDI Covid Warriors, WASE, ABKYWES, AdiSU, AESDSU among others.
The Minister thanked the NGOs, CBOs and the Covid warriors for their suggestions and continuous support in the fight against the pandemic. DIPRO
