NAMSAI, Feb 7: The District Legal Services Authority, Namsai under the aegis of APSLSA (State Legal Services Authority), in partnership with District Administration and local Health Department, organized a Joint Awareness Programme on Health & Legal schemes for the residents of Rangalibeel today.
The objective of this unique collaboration was two pronged; firstly to educate the locals about the recent Leprosy epidemic ravaging their village, how and where to seek medical aid if infected and best practices to avoid infection, all of which was covered by Dr. CM Thamoung from the District Leprosy Cell under the ongoing Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign.
Second area of focus was to announce the launch of Tele Law Project – a new legal service facility initiated by Ministry of Law & Justice under the DISHA (Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice) scheme, which is being implemented Pan India by NALSA, wherein quality legal advice and consultation are made available to the common people by using video and tele-conferencing services, on computer/ mobile app based platform. Adv. Mukesh Deori, Resource Person of the day on behalf of DLSA made the announcement to the 60 odd beneficiaries present on the occasion, as he apprised them on various other legal schemes and entitlements available to them, including Free Legal Aid. 
The resource person from both departments also spoke on the of issue of  Drug Abuse, giving a comprehensive view on the subject, which not only corresponds as a law and order issue but also can be linked with several health related issues marring the region, such as HIV-AIDS.
The day long programme ended with a free health check-up and legal counselling for all beneficiaries present.
Asked, why these two departments with such contrasting line of work decided to collaborate, Adv. Deori of DLSA replied that “the District Administration (DA) and the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority have recently agreed to implement the Tele Law project in the Aspirational district of Namsai. As part of our implementation efforts we plan to collaborate with various Agencies to organize series of Awareness programmes and apprise people of their legal entitlements and entitlements related to health - wellbeing, financial inclusion, women empowerment, rural livelihood, agriculture etc. -  all of which are being implemented in the region by  various departments and organization functioning under the DA.”
