ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Acting on the approval from the Gauhati High Court and keeping in view of the difficulties faced by the people of Likabali, Lower Siang district in attending the Court at Aalo, the state’s Law & Judicial Department through a notification has stated that territorial jurisdiction of the courts at Aalo henceforth will come under the territorial jurisdiction of the courts at Pasighat with immediate effect until further order.
As per the said notification issued by the Chief Secretary dated November 18, 2020, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh has ordered the change in pursuance of the Gauhati High Court approval (Letter No. HC.VII-75/2020/3850/A dated 19/10/2020). According to the new order which has come into force, all pending cases (civil and criminal) pertaining to Lower Siang district stand transferred to the respective courts at Pasighat from the courts at Aalo.
The above modification, broadly and effectively will mean that all criminal and civil cases, both currently existing and those originating within the territorial jurisdiction of the districts of East Siang, Siang, Upper Siang and Lower Siang will now come under purview of the District & Sessions Court, Pasighat and the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Civil Judge (Sr. Division) Court, Pasighat.
