ZIRO, Mar 19: “Training of Trainers” - a master training workshop cum legal awareness programme for the Gaon Burahs & Gaon Burihs of Lower Subansiri district was organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) of the Union Law & Justice Ministry at Hapoli today.
The training workshop is part of an ongoing collaboration between the APSLSA and DOJ titled, “Synergy between Customary Practices of the Traditional Village Council System and Formal Laws of India” - which aims to educate and sensitize 500 GBs of the State on various Legal Acts and Schemes of Public importance directly, and thousands of ordinary citizens indirectly through them (GBs).
Two GBs from the valley were identified and coached as Master Trainers by the APSLSA over last few weeks.
The Training Workshop was followed by a Legal Awareness Programme for which a host of learned Speakers were invited to speak on various Acts, Legal schemes and entitlements of public interest including Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme of 2011 etc. Along with the GB fraternity, members of various Women Groups - Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, Apatani Women Association Ziro, Chol-Bol Patang SHG - also took part in the Awareness Programme and the discussions thereafter.
In total 24 GBs representing 9 villages of the district were trained during the workshop.
