ROING, Jul 13: District Health Society on National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme (NTEP), Lower Dibang Valley today convened a meeting to review the status of the disease in the district here at the DC’s conference hall.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner K. N. Damo, the meeting was participated by the members of the District TB Forum, DMO Dr. R. Tatan, Programme Officers of the health department, Secretary AMYAA NGO and panchayat representatives. Interacting with the TB-recovered individuals, the DMO advised them to take care of their health and narrated his own experiences of suffering from the disease as a school student and the story of overcoming the stigma by taking up sports. While expressing concern over the surging COVID positive cases and increasing positivity rate in the district, the DC cautioned people not to spread fake news and negative information regarding Covid vaccines and appealed the panchayat leaders to play proactive roles. DTO Dr. S. J. Mitapo made a presentation on the activities of the TB forum undertaken under NTEP in the district. While informing that the government had set a goal to eliminate TB by 2025 under the Jan Andolan campaign, he outlined the objectives of the forum.
A handbook titled ‘TB Harega Desh Jeetega’ was launched during the meeting. DIPRO
