Longding, Oct 21: A three-day vocational training on ‘Dairy Management and Methods of Clean Milk Production’ for dairy farmers was conducted on October 16-18 here at Senua village by KVK Longding.
Subject Specialist-Animal Science, KVK Longding Dr. Tilling Tayo imparted the practical aspects of dairy management such as housing, feeding, breeding, vaccination, methods of clean-milk production, value addition of milk etc. During the interactive session, the farmers informed about the problem of non-availability of green fodder during the four winter months of November to February. To mitigate the problem, Dr. Tayo assured to provide Napier, a perennial fodder grass throughout the year. Regarding the problem of lack of quality bulls for increasing milk production, he assured to take initiatives for introducing the Artificial Insemination (A.I) method of breeding.
The last day of training dwelt on the ways of preventing wastage of excess milk through conversion into value-added products such as curd and paneer. A total of 31 dairy farmers participated in the training. KVK PR
