ITANAGAR, Dec 8: RN Koley, a prolific writer and former Assistant Director (Culture), Directorate of Research, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has been conferred with the ‘North East India Award-2018’ for his outstanding contribution towards the development of tribal literature.
The coveted award, carrying a citation and a cash prize of Rs 25,000, was presented to him by Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy in an impressive function held at Christ School International auditorium, Nongsder, Umiam, Shillong on Saturday.
The annual award, instituted by KKLL Foundation in collaboration with Christ School International in the year 2016, is given away to persons/institutions from the NE region that excel in promotion of peace, social work, tribal literature and youth leadership. Koley, an ace sociologist and a literary activist, is at present serving the Research Directorate as an officer on special duty (OSD). He is also holding the post of editor at the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS).
Meanwhile, APLS president Y D Thongchi and general secretary Batem Pertin, and Advisor to Chief Minister, Tai Tagak have congratulated Koley on winning the prestigious award.
During the function, Koley on behalf of the Research Dept, GoAP handed over a packet of books as a token of admiration to Governor Tathagata Roy. Among others, managing trustee of KKLL Foundation, D Loyi and chairman of North East India Award Committee, Dr C Verghese were also present at the award function.
