ITANAGAR, Jun 25: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) has endorsed the demand of a comprehensive probe by the NIA into the Kimin episode that has been raised by various civil societies of the state.
Besides this, the GWS has also sought appointment of a senior Supreme Court judge by the Central government to monitor the NIA investigation process, reasoning that the Arunachal-Assam border issue is  sub judice and any attempt of distortion or alteration needs to be under close scrutiny of the Supreme Court. Furthermore, the Society has appealed to the state government to take immediate remedial measures to address the grief generated among the state’s people following the fiasco. Terming the infamous episode wherein Kimin was depicted as Assam’s Bilgarh and ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ covered with white patches on all monoliths and welcome gates as ‘shocking’, the GWS has rued that it all happened in presence of the CMs of both states, Union MoS Kiren Rijiju, local MLA and top officials of the state and District Administrations. “The mischievous and demeaning  act of the BRO and ITBP authorities and the subsequent social media releases have greatly hurt the sentiments of the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” the release mentioned.

Expressing its dissatisfaction over the aspects of quality and completion deadlines of road projects executed by the BRO in Arunachal Pradesh especially the Aalo-Kamba highway stretch, the GWS has  placed the demand before the state government for a third-party monitoring of all highway projects being executed by the BRO and NHIDCL.
