Itanagar, Dec 12: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended their warm greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Khiksabha, one of the most important festivals of the Sherdukpen community of West Kameng district.
In his message, Governor said that in the current age of global warming, the age-old traditions like Khiksabha encourage all to work towards ecologically sustainable development with prudent use of natural resources. I am sanguine that celebration of this festival will continue to motivate all to safeguard the bounties of nature and let us keep the pristine glory and harmonize development imperatives with our conservation concerns, his message said.
Joining the celebrations, Chief Minister offered prayers to the deities and mountain spirit for the well-being of all and appreciated the Sherdukpens for maintaining the age old culture and traditions.
“Ours is a distinct state with several tribes and communities residing side by side for ages, maintaining their own unique indigenous culture and traditions. I believe the celebration of Khiksaba would prove a major catalyst towards achieving the goal of unity in diversity,” his message read. PRO Raj Bhavan, CMO
