ITANAGAR, Dec 27: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today hinted that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in the urban local bodies (ULB)  of both Pasighat  and Itanagar.
He also admitted to 'miscalculations' in distribution of BJP party tickets to candidates for the Itanagar civic body polls which saw the Janata Dal United performing exceptionally well.
The BJP on Saturday wrested the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) from the Congress by winning six of the eight seats of the civic body, while it was not a sweep for the Saffron party in the 20-seat Itanagar Municipal Corporation.
The JD (U) put up a stellar performance in its maiden contest in the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) polls and bagged nine wards.
The BJP, the ruling party in the state, won 10 seats, one short of the majority mark in the 20-member (IMC) and the NPP bagged one. Among the 10 wards won by the BJP in the Itanagar civic body polls, five candidates were elected unopposed.
Responding to questions regarding the recent  Panchayat and Municipal elections in the state, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the people of the state for extending support to the Bharatiya Janata Party  for a landslide victory in the Panchayat election. While speaking on the Municipal election, he said that BJP will form ULB government in both Pasighat and capital Itanagar.
Elaborating on the IMC results, Khandu said "The BJP emerged as the largest party in Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) with 10 seats followed by JDU-9 and NPP one seat. There has been some miscalculation in analysing the distribution of party tickets to the candidates," said Khandu.
He further added that most of the candidates who won the IMC seats were originally from the BJP and had applied for party tickets before the election but later fought the election from another party.
So there are no differences among us and everyone is equal for us, he quipped. Clearing all apprehensions, the Chief Minister said BJP will form ULB government in IMC as it is the largest party and National People’s Party (NPP) who is the alliance of NDA also won one seat.

" The NPP's National President cum Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma has tweeted to extend support to the NDA led BJP Government," Khandu said.
