ITANAGAR, Jul 13: A District Level Executive Committee (DLEC) meeting was convened today to finalise the proposals under Chief Minister’s Samast Shiksha Yojana (CMSSY), chaired by Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex in presence of the local MLA Techi Kaso and administrative officers of all line departments.

In his address, Kaso called for collective efforts from District Administration and Education Department to revamp the overall scenario of education.

 Admitting that every requirement of the schools cannot be fulfilled at the same time, he lauded the DC for verifying the ground reality and prioritising works on that basis. Kaso recommended a few changes in the proposal which was finalized. He further hoped that under the DC, significant changes would be made in the Capital Complex especially in the field of education.

Concerned over poor performance of students in class X and XII CBSE examination,  DC  Prince Dhawan stressed that the system needs to be streamlined as few schools are facing shortage of teachers while others have excess numbers.

Highlighting initiatives taken up to improve the situation, DC informed that already 45 posts have been advertised to fill the shortage of teachers and proposal for in- service training of teachers which is to enhance work performance and provide motivation to the teachers is also underway.

He continued that remedial measures to fulfill immediate requirements like benches and desks, maintenance works, electrification, etc were also taken up.

Moyir Kato, CO (Education) through a PPT informed that a team of six  officers had visited all the 74 functional schools of the Capital Complex to carry out a base line survey to assess the gap in basic physical and social infrastructure under CMSSY and as per the report of the six teams, the proposal has been made.

 She also briefed in detail about the proposals that were approved under CMSSY, some of which are repair and maintenance of classrooms including CGI sheets, whitewashing etc, electrification (internal wiring), procurement of computer and printers, laptop, xerox, internet etc and hiring of faculties/ in- service training of teachers, conduct of PTA/ PTM, interschool competitions, procurement of furniture etc.

Earlier, JP Bagang, Planning Coordinator had briefed about the aims and objectives of the CMSSY.
