TEZU, Mar 13: Spearheading the efforts in popularising karate in Lohit district, the Lohit Karate Do Association (LKDA) has brought several laurels for the district and the state.
Secretary, LKDA Sobatso Kri who has represented the country in the Sri Lanka International tournament in Colombo said that the game of karate besides serving as a method of self-defence also teaches discipline and thereby helps in keeping the youths away from drugs. “We are promoting and encouraging the district’s youths to participate in the game. Our boys and girls have performed very well in various national and international events and brought laurel for the state,” Kri said. He exhorted the youths to join karate, training for which is being imparted without fees at Telluliang and other parts of the township, adding that it is one of the most watched-out events in the Olympics as well.
The pride of the district Sadan Yun, Ananlu Dab, Jisamlu Manyu, Basim Kri and Diyalu Kri have participated in national and international events. A karate team led by Kri demonstrated the self-defence techniques to the student of 48th BRTF Dimwe.
