Bomdila, Jan 20: The Kalaktang Police Station team has achieved a historic milestone under Operation Dawn 2.0, with the highest-ever seizure of suspected cannabis weighing 1654.22 kgs, valued at approximately `1.33 crores (One Crore Thirty-Three Lakhs).
This remarkable achievement took place on January 18, during a well-coordinated raid in and around Betchilling Village. Operation Dawn 2.0 is a focused anti-drug initiative launched by DGP Anand Mohan during the SP’s Conference.
The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge Padi Payang and SI David Tagi, under the supervision of Pawan Yadav, ASP Bhalukpong/SDPO Kalaktang, and the overall guidance of SP West Kameng Shudhansu Dhama.
An NDPS case under relevant sections has been registered at Kalaktang Police Station. Further investigations are underway to establish forward and backward linkages, with intensified efforts to identify and apprehend the accused. Support from local villagers is being sought to expedite the investigation.
Under the broader Operation Dawn initiative (2023-24), the West Kameng Police has seized more than 5030 kgs of Cannabis and other contrabands worth over `4.5 crores. They have also arrested 101 accused, underscoring their unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the community.
This record-breaking seizure is a testament to the dedication and efficiency of the Kalaktang Police and the West Kameng District Police in their fight against the menace of drugs.
