TEZU, Dec 21: 48 BRTF in association with Bamboosa Library, Tezu organised a two-day ‘Joy of Reading Mela’ at Dimwe in Lohit district which was a campaign to encourage the habit of reading books among children and youths.
Addressing the valedictory session today participated by around 60 children of Classes III-X, Commander, 48 BRTF Col. Saurabh Srivastava encouraged the young minds to inculcate the habit of reading to stay informed in a better way than others. He also congratulated the senior activists of Bamboosa Library who conducted a 2-day training workshop for the youths of Dimwe area as part of the Mela. While informing that BRTF has been organising the reading campaign events jointly with Bamboosa Library since 2009, Col. Srivastava assured to organise more such programmes in the coming years and made a handsome contribution to the library to extend the reading campaign across the region.
Capt. Shivani Sharma who coordinated the campaign elaborated on the importance of reading, especially at times of crisis like Corona when human interactions are curtailed. Senior library activist Jeenamsi Ngadong thanked the District Administrations of Lohit, Namsai, Anjaw and Lower Dibang Valley and the patrons for extending support to the reading promotion programmes in the region’s rural pockets.
A mini book exhibition for young readers and parents with titles from CBT, NBT, Tulika, TERI and Eklavya was also held as part of the Mela. Lohit Youth Library Network PR
