HAWAI, Mar 31: Lohit Youth Library Network with support from Anjaw District Administration organised a week-long ‘Joy of Reading’ campaign that covered the schools of Hayuliang Sub-division from March 25- 30.
As part of the programme, the Mother School Project Bridge Course was inaugurated at Yatong Government Middle School on March 29 which saw the participation of DC, Anjaw Ayushi Sudan. While exhorting the students to develop reading habits, the DC applauded the senior library activists and witnessed a few sessions of poem recitation and story-telling. The reading campaign led by senior activist, APNE Library, Wakro Anjangmai Mam covered the Government Upper Primary schools in Khupa, Tafraliang, Swamy Camp, KGBV Supliang, GHHS Hayuliang, Tamladu Primary School and the Mother School Project programmes in Yatong, Metengliang and Khupa. The Lohit Youth Library Network team and the Coordinator, Lohit Youth Libraries addressed the teacher-trainees at DIET, Khupa, highlighting the importance of inculcating reading habits among students.
SDO Hawai K. Namchoom and ADC In-charge S. Bellai congratulated the library activists for conducting their activities catering to different age groups.
It is after a year-long monotony caused by the corona pandemic, the school students of Anjaw got the taste of reading books through the campaign.
