BOMDILA, Jan 19: West Kameng District Administration today convened a meeting to review and approve a new scheme of District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) which is part of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the central flagship scheme here at the DC’s conference hall under chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, DWSM Karma Leki.
EE PHED-cum-Member Secretary, DWSM Er. N Konia informed that till now a total of 13123 beneficiaries under Rural HH and 2097 in Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) have been covered in Bomdila Division and the balance 8804 FHTCs will be provided within 2023. EE, PHE&WS Division, Dirang Er. N Lapung gave the figures that out of the target of 2199, 1409 FHTCs have been provided. District Forest Officer Chuku Loma who is also a member of the DWSM expressed the need to include forest officials in village-level teams to check deforestation. ADC Sang Khandu while stating that deforestation is one of the major causes of decreasing natural water sources in the district, urged the PHED Department to include village level awareness programmes in their plan for approval from higher authority.
The Annual Action Plans for 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 under JJM of PHE & WS of Bomdila Division were duly approved by the DWSM and recommended to SLSSC for further approval. DIPRO
