Jengging, Oct 6: Celebrations for Wildlife Week 2020 kicked off here at the Jengging Wildlife Range of Mouling National Park on October 1 last, participated by the HoDs, officials and locals through strict observance of Covid-19 SOPs.
Divisional Forest Officer of Mouling National Park, Dhawan Kumar Rawat while giving awareness on ‘Schedule Animals’ under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 said that Jengging being the habitat of a wide-ranging species of birds has the potential to become an incredible bird-watching site that could lead to development of eco-tourism in the area.
The programme concluded with a 12-km jungle walk and a rare species of Khasi hill forest lizard (Calotes Maria) was also spotted. DIPRO
