ITANAGAR, Dec 28: A day after Chief Minister Pema Khandu assured to stake claim to form the BJP-led government in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Pasighat and Itanagar Municipal Corporation, the lone JD (U) MLA of Itanagar, Techi Kaso under whose leadership the party conquered nine seats in the IMC election, today asserted the party is giving all efforts to form the ULB government in the IMC.
Speaking to the media, Kaso further added that although the party is short of two more corporators to touch the magic figure of 11, efforts to stake claim to form the government in the IMC are on. “All updated information about Panchayat and Municipal elections have been sent to the national executive members of the JD (U) and now we are waiting for the directives of the party high command and let’s wait for next two-three days,” Kaso added. “JD (U) is in an alliance with the BJP at the Centre, indeed, we also wanted to be part of the BJP government here in the state but Chief Minister Pema Khandu has himself excluded us,” Kaso claimed.
Further, elaborating on the party’s recent achievement in Panchayat and Municipal elections, Kaso said that within a very short time the JD(U) has performed very well in the state. Out of 19 seats we fought in different Zilla Parishad constituencies, JD(U) achieved at least 10, 148 GPMs and 9 seats in the IMC, Kaso said, adding that people have shown their faith in Nitish Kumar-led JD (U). “We believe that in the coming days more and more people will join the party,” the MLA said.
Meanwhile, NPP legislative party leader Tapuk Taku said the party will abide by the decision of the high command under the direction of NPP National President Conrad Sangma in forming the Urban Local Body (ULB) government in Itanagar.
“NPP being in alliance with the NDA, we hope for all-round development and support under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu,” he said, while thanking the public for their support to the NPP for bringing a huge victory in the Panchayat elections in the state.
