PASIGHAT, Sep 23: Ruksin MLA Tatung Jamoh said that massive development has taken place in the constituency in health, education, road connectivity, water supply, agriculture and horticulture sectors, etc. Jamoh was addressing the villagers at the Ledum village Dere (Community hall) during “Swachhta Hi Seva” organized by the PHED on Friday.
Distribution of free LPG connections, new construction and renovation of roads and bridges, improved drainage system, construction of guest house, improvement of CHC Ruksin, establishment of Sainik School, implementation of Ayushman Bharat, etc. were his major achievements, claimed the MLA. He urged the district administration to conduct more people-oriented programmes like ‘Sarkar Apke Dwar’ with an objective to ensure that the benefits reach the lowest strata of people.
The MLA congratulated the villagers for achieving the coveted “The Cleanest Village of East Siang Award” and also for maintaining peace and harmony in society. “You have set example for the entire district making Ledum free from plastic, malaria, dengue and other waterborne diseases”, added the MLA encouraging the villagers to maintain such practice so that other villages of the district would emulate.
Jamoh said alcoholism and drug addiction have marked impact on the ability of families to function. Elders of society must come forward to convince the youth to refrain from these dreaded habits and guide them to spare their free time in literary, sports and games and personality development, he suggested. The MLA also participated in a plantation drive and had distributed dustbins, filters and extended some financial help for village level development on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak said true development is when villages become self-contained and economically viable and not when villagers are forced to migrate to towns in search of better avenues. He advised the government officers to acquaint with all the government flagship programmes and play pro-active role in spreading awareness at the grassroots along with former panchayat leaders and gaon burahs. -
