ITANAGAR, Aug 27: The agitating Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITWs) called off their protest today. The decision comes after Deputy Commissioner- ICR Talo Potom met them at IG Park and appealed the ITWs to call-off their ongoing dharna and resume duties.
The Deputy Commissioner has informed that Chief Secretary has already convened a meeting for August 30 next related to the demands of the ITWs.  Along with Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Deputy Commissioner himself and representatives of the ITWs will attend the meeting for an amicable solution. He also informed that no ITWs will be terminated. Earlier, speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed concern over the agitation by ITWs and informed that he has already instructed Deputy Commissioner Itanagar to meet the ITWs and to know their grievances.  Though their appointments are already temporary, but we will see what we can do for them, stated CM.

ITW is demanding induction of ITWs in traffic Cell as per the written assurance by the then Chief Secretary in 2017 and immediate clearance of Cabinet Note of 2015 for creation of permanent Itanagar Traffic Warden under Home Department.
