ITANAGAR, Jun 7: Itanagar Traffic Police (ITP) today organized an awareness programme on road safety and traffic regulation in view of the recent order issued by the ICR Deputy Commissioner on parking of vehicles beside the Right of Way on the national highway.
Holding placards and banners with messages of traffic regulations, the traffic police officials and Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITWs) led by Deputy SP Traffic PN Jomoh appealed to the denizens to observe the new traffic rules for greater road safety. Speaking to the media, the Deputy SP informed that the awareness event was aimed at spreading awareness on traffic rules and infusing parking discipline among people. Recently the ICR DC has issued an order asking denizens to follow the parking rule to avoid traffic congestion in the twin capitals, he said. “We need to adopt the basic civic sense and cannot blame the authority only," he said while adding that if people follow the basic rules properly the need for awareness programmes will not arise. Although the  other Northeastern states have very narrow roads, they keep their vehicles in a proper way to avoid traffic issues, Jomoh stated.
"Vehicles violating parking rules will be impounded by the traffic police. We have already towed a couple of vehicles for not obeying traffic rules today, but from tomorrow we will impound their vehicles with challan as per the laid down rules," the Deputy SP Traffic informed.
