ITANAGAR, Aug 20: 158 Itanagar Traffic Wardens will be participating in a peaceful indefinite sit-in protest at the Tennis Court to call government attention to their grievances and on their two point charter of demands.
The Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITW) has decided to resort to indefinite peaceful dharna from August 23 demanding the state government to regularize the ITWs under Home department and full-fledged introduction of ITW into the Traffic cell, Itanagar.
In a press conference held today at the Press Club, an ITW, Lomra Tapa informed that ITW has been serving since 2011 and earlier they were appointed on master role basis but this system was removed in 2017 by appointing them as contingency under Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar.
The ITW said that the state government had given a written assurance that ITW will be introduced into the Itanagar Traffic cell which is fully functioning for the last two years, but nothing has materialized.
The ITW has repeatedly submitted memorandums including reminders but till date the state government has failed to address the grievances of 158 ITWs. We tried to meet the chief minister several times but couldn’t, Tapa said.
