ITANAGAR, Sep 3: A review meeting to measure the progress and status of the 4-lane Itanagar-Banderdewa section of NH-415 (Package-A) construction works and for planning a way forward for its early completion was held here at the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday attended by the officers of the Highway department.
The project which started in September 2017 initially had a completion deadline of September 2020, but the cumulative effect of Covid-19 and long-drawn monsoon hampered the progress of work. However, despite all odds, as on September 1, 72.46 % work has been completed. Formation cutting of earthwork has been completed throughout the stretch of the road except for a small patch which has been kept intentionally near Shiv Mandir for filling up the culvert bridge between Shiv Mandir and Dree ground. The meeting decided that remaining works like construction of protection walls, drains and covers, culverts and carpeting will be taken up in earnest to ensure completion during the coming working season. With relaxation of SOPs, more labourers from nearby states will be inducted to expedite the project.
It may be recalled that the state government had sanctioned Rs. 82.85 crore for improvement of Capital roads and for repair and maintenance of road bridges in and around the ICR for which tender process has been completed and work will commence soon. The Highway department has been directed to take up the work on a mission mode and adhere strictly to the timeline for an early completion.
The meeting also took the decision that review of work progress would be made every fortnight. The department officers were further advised to carry out timely maintenance of the highway so that commuters can have better riding experience. CMO
