NAHARLAGUN, Mar 29:

 

Dr Sergio Mapelli, Scientist, CNR Institute of Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology

Milan, Italy visited CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology Branch Itanagar G-Sector, Naharlagun on invitation and delivered a lecture on “Industrially Important Crops”.

 

Students along with their teachers from Dept. of Life Science, Rajiv Gandhi University, Dept. of Foresty, NERIST, Dept. of Botany, DN College, Itanagar and Dept. of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, NIT, Yupia attended the programme.

 

The basic objective of the programme was to provide a platform to the students of different institutes of Itanagar Capital Complex for exchange of ideas for future research and development in the area of Biotechnology and plant Science. Arunachal Pradesh being a biodiversity hotspot, it is a relevant area of topic to the students for further study.

 

Dr Pinaki Sengupta, Chief Scientist delivered the welcome address and introduced the distinguish Scientist. One collaborative research work is going on with CSIR-NEIST Jorhat with him. Scientist from NEIST Jorhat also attended the programme and interacted actively with the distinguished Scientist from Italy.
