GUWAHATI, Sep 25: Arunachal’s Minister for Geology and Mining, Kamlung Mosang attended the event organised  by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas today in Guwahati to showcase Upstream Oil & Gas opportunities in the NorthEast Region (NER). The plenary session was chaired by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, and Ministers of North-Eastern states attended the event.
Addressing the Investors Meet on Exploration and Production investment Opportunities in the North Eastern Region, Mosang dwelt upon various issues pertaining to exploration and mining of huge deposits of mineral resources in Arunachal Pradesh.
He said that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the state is endeavoring to transform itself into a business hub in the area of Hydrocarbons & Mining sector. “Arunachal Pradesh has immense potential for hydrocarbon resources. Most of the hydrocarbon-bearing areas still remain unexplored.  These resources require systematic investigations, use of latest technologies and significant capital investment to transform them into producing properties while maintaining ecological balance which we have preserved over generations,” Mosang said.
Stating the strategic importance of Arunachal, he said that the state government has undertaken many key initiatives to augment infrastructure and pace economic development.
The Minister informed that the Arunachal government plans to set up a dedicated service provider hub in the state to support the requirement of Oil and Gas / Mining Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas/Director General Hydrocarbon.
The outlook of exploration & production (E&P) business in the North East Region in general and Arunachal Pradesh in particular is indeed promising, he said, calling upon the investors to actively participate in upcoming bidding rounds and become part of the development of Arunachal Pradesh.
Secretary Geology and Mining Annirudh Saran Singh and Director Tasser Talar were also present.
The objective of the conference was to highlight the portfolio of high-volume Oil and Gas assets of Indian Sedimentary basins, and to promote the bidding rounds of Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing policy and Discovered Small Field Policy.
Theme of event was aligned to Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for North-East India, which is a paradigm shift in production and utilization of hydrocarbons to catalyze growth in the North East region and to improving standard of living for the people, generating opportunities for the youth and creating a sustainable energy secure future.
This was one of biggest E&P sector events of recent time in the region which was exhaustively planned with a comprehensive set of presentations and panel discussions touching a gamut of topics.
