ITANAGAR, Mar 8: International Women's Day 2019  was celebrated all across the state with great enthusiasm.
At Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing & Visually Impaired it was celebrated under the aegis of AAPSU women wing. The team interacted with the teaching staff and students and distributed stationary items, sports kits, sanitary pads etc.
A brief report of the school and the facilities offered to the students was also given to the visiting AAPSU team. It was informed that alumnus from this school are placed in many government and private jobs.
On the occasion, the visiting AAPSU team also urged the state government to render continuous support to such institutions and schools in the state which have been rendering yeomen services for the weaker sections of society.
The women wing of  AAPSU was led by its President Rosy Rangai, General Secretary Kipa Yanu and  Convener Bengia Mepu.
Meanwhile, Don Bosco College, Itanagar officially celebrated International Women’s Day for the first time within its premises. Social activist, politician and former Chairperson, Arunachal Pradesh Commission for Women, Jarjum Ete attended the celebration as Chief Guest who exhorted the students, especially the girls to preserve the indigenous identity of the state.
MAGIC club (Making Arunachal Green, Incredible & Clean) in collaboration with IGSSS (Indo Global Social Service Society) and Department of Social Work, RGU also celebrated the International Women's Day at Lapang Hati Playground, Itanagar. Addressing on the event as Chief Guest, the first Women tempo driver of the state Binyum Taba spoke on the alteration, "Women do not challenges men but challenges the works."
To mark the event a skit was performed, raising awareness about sex determination and the role of chromosome in it.
Opu Aama Society & Arts Club, DNGC observed this day by organising a painting competition with the  theme "Balance for Better" where a total of 30 students participated.
The Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress (APMCC) also observed the day in a grand manner here at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, Itanagar which was attended by hundreds of women from all walks of life including the rank and file of its frontal wings.
In her address, President, APMCC remembered those women who have sacrificed their time and life for the wellbeing of the community in various spheres. In the meantime, she also recalled the initiatives and sacrifices made by former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, and UPA, Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi for women empowerment in the country.
Vice president, APCC, Yame Tok underscored that empowerment of women is a necessity for the very development of a society.
General Secretary, APCC, in charge Mahila Congress, Mina Toko in her address advised the women community to take part in various nation-building activities through forming NGOs and joining social welfare institutions.
An all women blood donation camp was organised at TRIHMS blood bank, Naharlagun   by 'AYANG' a voluntary blood donation organisation to mark   the International Women's Day.
During the camp, arranged in collaboration with the district administration Capital Complex, a total of 13 units of blood was collected.  
At Khonsa IWD was celebrated in the befitting manner at Nehru Stadium, Khonsa under the aegis of Women Welfare Association (WWA) on Thursday.
In his address, Tirap Deputy Commissioner P.N. Thungon said that women are the backbone of every family, every society and country as a whole, adding that women can play a pivotal role in educating their children in a right direction especially in the field of health education.
The DC urged the women of Tirap District to join hands with the District Administration and government to eradicate anti-social activities and drug menace. ES Newsdesk
