ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, observed International Youth Day at Solung Mopin Ground Itanagar today by involving various cultural troupes.
Attending the program as the Chief Guest, Dr. M. Lego, Director of Health Services, stressed on the role of the youth in generating awareness about various health related issues to the common masses. He said that Drug Menace and HIV/AIDS have emerged as a challenge for the youth today.
 "Drug addictions always lead to high-risk activities which brings in innumerable health related issues for a person," he said. Stressing on the importance of mental health, he said that sound mental health is crucial for a healthy society while urging participants to create awareness about mental health. Explaining the importance of this year’s theme "Intergenerational solidarity: Creating a world for all ages”, he said that it aims at joint efforts and solidarity from all generation in order to create a safe world for all ages. Project Director of APSACS, Dr. Riken Rika speaking on the occasion said that the International Youth Day is dedicated to the role young women and men play in bringing change in tackling global issues and achieving sustainable development. It also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world's youth, he said. 

Daisy EM Ragi, the reigning Mrs Arunachal 2022, while participating in the program, asked the youth to stay focused in their goals. President of the SFCCI Capital Region, Nangkong Perme also asked the youth to be responsible and become good citizens.
Dy. Director IEC, Tashor Pali, explained in detail the four routes of HIV/AIDS transmission and its prevention. He also stressed on the issue of stigma and discrimination attached to HIV/AIDS and asked people to show empathy to the People Living with HIV/AIDS.
A pledge was also taken by all the participating members to work for HIV/AIDS awareness voluntarily and also to work for the creation of an enabling environment for the People Living with HIV.
