Itanagar, Jun 21:  The 8th International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for Humanity” was observed under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with holistic approach across the state today.
The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. Dr. B.D. Mishra (Retd.) led the International Day of Yoga celebration at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that this ancient practice provides harmony of body, mind and soul and enables the practitioners to imbibe peace of mind, good health and positive attitude in life..and appealed to all to practice Yoga.
The First Lady of the State Smt Neelam Misra, Raj Bhavan officials along with Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) troops attached to Raj Bhavan also took part.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu took part in the yoga session at Tawang and appealed all to practice yoga for a balanced health and wellness in life.
Union minister Kiren Rijiju led the International Yoga Day programme at Dong in Anjaw district. Dong is the easternmost village in the country near the point where India, China and Myanmar meet. It experiences the first sunrise in India, thus earning the nickname ‘India’s Land of the Rising Sun’.
The Golden Pagoda Temple, Tengapani in Namsai which was selected as one of the 75 iconic heritage sites of the country buzzed with thousands of participants. Faggan Singh Kulaste, Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and host of dignitaries took part in the yoga session.
At Longding, Member of Parliament Tapir Gao, local MLA Tanpho Wangnaw, deputy commissioner Bani Lego along with HoDs, officials and public participated in the IYD at Longding HQ.
At Ziro Er. Tage Taki, Minister Agriculture, Horticulture, DC Bamin Nime and other HoDs took part on Yoga day.
At Yazali, Education Minister Er. Taba Tedir and ZPC Likha Sangchhore led the Yoga Day. In Upper Siang Alo Libang, Minister Health WCD SJETA and DC attended the day. At Miao, Minister Kamlung Mossang graced the occasion as chief Guest. At Civil Secretariat, Dr. Sharat Chauhan, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Finance of the state led the Yoga Session and urged all to inculcate yoga as part of life.
At Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering led the Yoga Day. At Thrizino MLA Kumsi Sidisow attended the day as Chief Guest. At Rupa MLA Dorjee Wangdi attended as the Chief Guest on the day. Dominic Tadar Chairman KVIC attended the Yoga day as Chief Guest. The day was also celebrated in RGU and Police headquarters of the state. The international Day of Yoga was attended by Adv. Kento Jini, MLA cum Adviser Law & Justice, Penga Tato. At Jairampur, MLA Laisam Simai joined the occasion as Chief Guest.
At Tezu, the 8th International Day of Yoga at Amik Ringya Hall, Tezu, MLA Karikho Kri, Heads of departments, GBs, officials, school students and general public. A total of 190 participants took part in the event and the instructors from the Art of Living foundation took the one hour long Yoga session. The day was also observed at the De-addiction centre, Zonal General Hospital Tezu where 20 participants took part in the IYD event organised at the Ayush Health and wellness Centre Danglat. 
The IYD was also observed in Bomdila, West Siang, Changlang and Kamle.
The Department of Tourism organised Yoga at five important tourist centres-- Namsai, Tezu, Itanagar, Dirang and Tawang to link these tourist places with Yoga activities. 
Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office Itanagar under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, organized a Mini Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (mini ICOP) at Green Mount School in Itanagar on the occasion of the “8th International Day of Yoga” today. The Mini ICOP aimed at celebrating the IDY 2022 and also sensitizing the participants about the importance of Yoga for leading a healthy life. 
Chief Guest, Tomar Nomuk, principal Green Mount School, on the occasion called on the students and its staff to make yoga as their daily habit and live a disease free life. A yoga session for the participants was held as a part of the programme.
An essay writing competition was also organized among the students of the school on the importance of Yoga to mark the occasion. Rakesh Doley, In-Charge, Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office Itanagar and Tomar Nomuk gave away the prizes to the winners.
Five Field Offices of Central Bureau of Communication under Itanagar Regional Office also organized Mini ICOP at their respective places at Aalo, Bomdila, Tawang, Tezu and Pasighat to observe the International Day of Yoga today.
