Rono Hills, Sep 24: The two-day international seminar titled ‘Ethnicity, Livelihood and Culture Change Among the Himalayan People: Anthropology and Beyond’ organized by RGU’s Department of Anthropology in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IRGMS), Bhopal concluded today here at the Conference Hall of Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies (AITS).
Convener, Indian National Trust for Art and Heritage (INTACH) Dehra Dun, Dr. Lokesh Ohri while delivering the valedictory speech talked about his study on the Jaunsar tribe of Uttrakhand. RGU Vice-Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha emphasized the importance of conducting international seminar for exploring the broader understanding on issues like ethnicity, livelihood & culture change and appealed all stakeholders & participants to engage in more in-depth researches. Professsor Sarit Kumar Chouduri of IRGMS also appealed the participants to actively take part in such kind of events in future. While emphasizing the need to take notice of the pains and constraints of the Himalayan people, he also stressed on explorative research and opined that outcome of the seminar may be documented in the form of a book to be presented to the government which can be further used in the policy making process.
