Itanagar, Feb 6: The fourth Arunachal Pradesh Central Government Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament started at Don Bosco School Ground, in Itanagar today. This year four teams : Prasar Bharati, BSNL, India Post and SBI, are participating in the tournament.
The opening match was played between Defending Champion SBI and BSNL. Batting first SBI could put only 88 runs in 20 overs on the board. In reply, BSNL scored the target in just 13 overs and 7 wickets in hand.
The second match between Prasar Bharati and India Post witnessed a nail-biting finish. Winning the toss, Prasar Bharati elected to bat first and scored a competitive 114 runs in 20 overs. In reply, India Post was bowled out in just 103 runs in 19 overs. For Prasar Bharati Rakesh Doley scored an unbeaten 50 runs and took 2 wickets. He was adjudged the Man of the Match. Pradeep Kr. Adey took 4 wickets for PB in the crucial last overs. For India Post, Raju Barman was the highest scorer with 31 runs.    
Central Government Inter-departmental Cricket Tournament is a running trophy being played basically by the central government department in Arunachal Pradesh. The organizers have said that the aim of this event is to create a platform for better understanding and mutual cooperation among all the central government employees in the state. They also informed that more such sporting activities will be taken up in the coming days to strengthen the sense of oneness among them.
