ITANAGAR, Jul 2:  In a disturbing incident and what appears to be a case of road rage, an innocent bystander was hit by a stray bullet at the busy Sumo stand at Ganga in the heart of Itanagar early Sunday morning.  The victim identified as one Tama Baring was waiting to board a Sumo for this destination but unfortunately the bullet pierced him in his right chest after bouncing off a vehicle.

The incident occurred when an unidentified person in a white colour SUV shot in the air with his pistol when a Sumo driver was not giving way to his vehicle. However, the driver was unharmed.

Tama was rushed to the RKM Hospital and Police is looking for the alleged person who fired the bullet. Police has also registered a case of attempt to murder 163/17 US 307/IPC/27 in Itanagar Police station.

Interestingly, the Police check point is just 50 metres from the place of incident and Office of the Superintendent of Police, Capital is just about a 100 meters away.

Security agencies may have to put in extra effort in this case as the vehicle in question was devoid of number plate plus no security cameras have been installed in this strategic police check point.
