KOYU, Jul 6:The students’ organisation of 36th Nari-Koyu Assembly Constituency- the Ramle Banggo Students’ (RBSU) today demanded the Education Department, for an infrastructural overhaul of the government schools under Koyu-Kora Circle.

The demands for the urgent overhaul were raised after a team of RBSU led by its President Goli Doye embarked on an 'Educational Tour' of the schools within the two circles, which according to Doye, was the first phase of the second tour after a similar tour in August last year.

According to the union, all the schools including the lone Higher Secondary for the two circles at Koyu are in dilapidated conditions with all lacking in proper boundary and fencing to demarcate its premises; insufficient teachers’ quarters; non-existing toilets and drinking water facilities; and no electricity connections in the schools and hostels.

It highlighted that lack of fencing has turned school buildings and classrooms into cowshed especially during vacation period.

The RBSU team also pointed out that the schools; particularly the Koyu Higher Secondary lacks in subject teachers like Geography, Mathematic, and Hindi besides shortage of prescribed textbooks.

Highlighting on the recent debacle wherein, the error in filing the forms of students for the board exams had led to most higher secondary students facing an exam for which they were not prepared, the RBSU demanded the government for providing the region with proper telephone lines with internet facilities at the earliest.

Meanwhile, maintaining that despite the challenges, a class XI student of Koyu Higher Secondary came in  second position in the district and adding that incumbent Government has time and again stressed on Education as one of its main priorities, RBSU urged on the concerned authorities to heed the call for constructive overhaul of the schools in the region to encourage the young students in achieving their educational goal.
