ITANAGAR/ GUWAHATI, Feb 7: Ahead of the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to three North Eastern states including Arunachal Pradesh, the North East Students' Organisation, a conglomeration of various students organization from Northeast including All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union, has reiterated that indigenous people of the North East will not accept the draconian Bill and demanded the Government of India not to introduce this Bill in the Rajya Sabha .
“If in any case this Bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha then there will be unrest in the whole of the North East and the Government of India should take the blame and be responsible for any eventuality,” NESO said adding that it will also further alienate the people of the North East.
In its Press statement, NESO claimed that despite opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, the Government of India passed the Bill in Lok Sabha on 8th January last which is another example of political injustice . The Government of India has no regard for the Indigenous people of the North East; rather the move is intentionally done to reduce the Indigenous people of the North East to a minority in our own land, stated NESO
