Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
TAWANG, Jun 17: The Sappers of Ball of Fire Division of the Indian Army today distributed health and hygiene materials to the District Hospital to be used in the fight against COVID-19.
Officers of the division handed over 100 PPE kits, 100 testing kits, 15 mattresses and 15 blankets and bed sheets to DMO Dr. Wangdi Lama in presence of MLA Tawang Tsering Tashi. The MLA conveyed his gratitude to the Indian Army for extending support for the welfare of the people of Tawang. He also conveyed gratitude on behalf of the state government to the GOC and all ranks of the Army for the medical services rendered by Military Hospital Dahung to the Covid patients referred from the district. Earlier, DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok conveyed his gratitude to Indian Army for extending help in various ways during the critical pandemic time.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with one of the active NGOs, Tawang District Sports Association (TDSA). Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Association Namgey Tsering informed that the Sappers in collaboration with his NGO has been conducting various welfare activities for the Mahabodhi Oldage Home, Teli, Khinmey Monastery and poor students staying at a monk in Lemberdung area.
They have also extended help for site development of the cultural centre at Taktsang area and maintenance of ambulances for Bongkhar Circle during the pandemic, Tsering added. DIPRO
